เมื่อวันที่  8พฤษภาคม 2558  ที่ โรงแรมรอยัลภูเก็ตซิตี้  นายอารีพงศ์ ภู่ชอุ่ม ปลัดกระทรวงพลังงาน เป็นประธานเปิดการสัมมนา “ภูเก็ตนำร่อง การใช้พลังงานอย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ” โดยมีนายสุธี ทองแย้ม รองผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดภูเก็ต กล่าวต้อนรับ และมีนายวิโรจน์ ดำคง พลังงานจังหวัดภูเก็ต ผู้บริหารจากกระทรวงท่องเที่ยวและกีฬา ผู้บริหารจากกระทรวงพลังงาน ผู้ประกอบการธุรกิจโรงแรมและการท่องเที่ยว หัวหน้าส่วนราชการ เข้าร่วม นายอารีพงศ์ กล่าวว่า จังหวัดภูเก็ตเป็นจังหวัดที่มีจุดเด่นเรื่องการท่องเที่ยวและมีผู้ประกอบการภาคธุรกิจอาคารโรงแรมที่มีการใช้ไฟฟ้าเพิ่มขึ้นต่อเนื่องจากภาคธุรกิจและการท่องเที่ยวที่เติบโตขึ้น โดยปัจจุบันจังหวัดภูเก็ตมีความต้องการใช้ไฟฟ้า 2,177 ล้านหน่วย มีความต้องการใช้ไฟฟ้าสูงสุดประมาณ 300 เมกกะวัตต์ และที่สำคัญมีการใช้ไฟฟ้าเป็นระดับ 2 ในพื้นที่ภาคใต้รองจากจังหวัดสงขลา ทั้งนี้จากภาพรวมการใช้พลังงานในพื้นที่ภาคใต้ทั้งหมด พบว่า มีการใช้ไฟฟ้าคิดเป็น 9% ของทั่วประเทศ โดยมีกำลังผลิตที่ระดับ 3,182 เมกะวัตต์ และมีความต้องการใช้ไฟฟ้าสูงสุดประมาณ 3,000 เมกะวัตต์ รวมถึงความจำเป็นในพื้นที่ภาคใต้ ซึ่งยังต้องอาศัยไฟฟ้าจากภาคกลางและส่งไปเสริมในบางช่วงเวลา ซึ่งการจัดสัมมนา “ภูเก็ต นำร่องการใช้พลังงานอย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ” ครั้งนี้เป็นการรณรงค์การใช้พลังงานอย่างมีประสิทธิภาพในระดับจังหวัด กระทรวงพลังงานจึงขอความร่วมมือจากทุกหน่วยงานทั้งภาครัฐและเอกชนในพื้นที่จังหวัดภูเก็ตในการอนุรักษ์พลังงานและใช้พลังงานอย่างมีประสิทธิภาพเพื่อเป็นส่วนหนึ่งในการสร้างความมั่นคงระบบไฟฟ้าในพื้นที่ภาคใต้ต่อไป ด้านการสนับสนุนจากภาครัฐผ่านมาตรการด้านการเงินและการลงทุนเพื่อการอนุรักษ์พลังงานกระทรวงพลังงานก็ได้มานำร่องแนะนำผู้ประกอบการภาคธุรกิจในจังหวัดภูเก็ตในครั้งนี้ด้วยในหลายช่องทาง อาทิ การส่งเสริมการลงทุนผ่าน ESCO Fund แนวคิดคือการเข้าร่วมลงทุนกับภาคเอกชนในโครงการที่มีศักยภาพแต่ไม่สามารถเข้าถึงสินเชื่อจากสถาบันการเงินได้ ซึ่งช่องทางนี้ในปัจจุบันได้เปิดโครงการในระยะที่ 4 วงเงิน 500 ล้านบาท ระยะเวลาโครงการระหว่าง เมษายน 2558 ถึงเมษายน 2560, การสนับสนุนการลงทุนเพื่อปรับเปลี่ยนอุปกรณ์อนุรักษ์พลังงาน โดยจะสนับสนุนเงินลงทุน 20% (กลุ่ม SME 30%) อัตราสูงสุดไม่เกิน 3 ล้านบาทต่อราย ซึ่งจะเปิดรับสมัครถึง 31 กรกฎาคม 2558 ผู้สนใจติดตามรายละเอียดเพิ่มเติมได้ที่ www.dede.go.th
