เมื่อวันที่ 18 เมษายน  2559  เวลา 09.00 น. ที่บริเวณหน้าเสาธงศาลากลางจังหวัดภูเก็ต กลุ่มชาวบ้านหาดสุรินทร์ อำเภอถลาง จังหวัดภูเก็ต กว่า 30 คน เดินทางเข้ายื่นหนังสือถึง ผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดภูเก็ต เรื่อง ขอให้ชะลอการรื้อถอนอาคารร้านค้าหาดสุรินทร์โดยขอให้เยียวยาจัดหาที่ทำกินให้กับชาวบ้านผู้ประกอบการที่ได้รับผลกระทบจากการรื้อถอนอาคารร้านค้าหาดสุรินทร์เสียก่อน โดยมี นายจำเริญ ทิพญพงศ์ธาดา ผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดภูเก็ต พร้อมด้วย นายภาคภูมิ อินทรสุวรรณ ปลัดจังหวัดภูเก็ต เป็นผู้รับหนังสือในครั้งนี้

สำหรับข้อความในหนังสือที่ยื่นต่อผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดภูเก็ต ระบุว่าอยากให้ทางจังหวัดภูเก็ตได้บรรเทาความเดือดร้อน และเพื่อความเป็นธรรมให้กับชาวบ้านหาดสุรินทร์ จึงขอให้ผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดภูเก็ตได้โปรดพิจารณาชะลอการรื้อถอนอาคารไว้ก่อนโดยการเยียวยาจัดหาที่ทำกินให้กับชาวบ้านหาดสุรินทร์ด้วย ตลอดจนให้ความเป็นธรรมในการดำเนินคดีอาญาข้อหาบุกรุกกับให้กับชาวบ้านหาดสุรินทร์ ทั้งนี้ชาวบ้านหาดสุรินทร์หวังเป็นอย่างยิ่งว่าทางจังหวัดภูเก็ตจะพิจารณาแก้ไขปัญหาความเดือดร้อนของชาวบ้านหาดสุรินทร์ อำเภอถลาง จังหวัดภูเก็ตในครั้งนี้ได้
