เมื่อวันที่ 17 ธันวาคม 2558 ที่ห้องประชุมศาลากลางจังหวัดภูเก็ต ดร.ประเจียด อักษรธรรมกุล รองผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดภูเก็ต เป็นประธานประชุมคณะอนุกรรมการส่งเสริมและพัฒนาคุณภาพชีวิตคนพิการประจำปีจังหวัดภูเก็ตครั้งที่ 4/2558 โดยมี นางพิมพร ขอสานติวิชัย พัฒนาสังคมและความมั่นคงของมนุษย์จังหวัดภูเก็ตและคณะอนุกรรมการเข้าร่วมโดยมีวาระการประชุมที่สำคัญคือการพิจารณาอนุมัติขอรับเงินสนับสนุนโครงการจากกองทุนส่งเสริมและพัฒนาคุณภาพชีวิตคนพิการจำนวน 2 โครงการและพิจารณาอนุมัติคนพิการขอกู้ยืมเงินกองทุนส่งเสริมและพัฒนาคุณภาพชีวิตคนพิการจำนวน 4 ราย
นางพิมพร ขอสานติวิชัย กล่าวว่า ทางสำนักงานฯได้รับคำร้องจากคนพิการและผู้ดูแลคนพิการที่ประสบปัญหาความเดือดร้อน ครอบครัวมีฐานะยากจน ขาดแคลนเงินลงทุนในการประกอบอาชีพ ยื่นคำร้องขอยืมเงินจากกองทุนส่งเสริมและพัฒนาชีวิตคนพิการเพื่อเป็นเงินทุนในการเริ่มต้นประกอบอาชีพและขยายกิจการจำนวน 4 รายเป็นเงินทั้งสิ้นกว่า 155,200บาท โดยวันนี้ได้นำคำยื่นขอกู้เงินของผู้พิการทั้ง 4 รายมาเข้าที่ประชุมเพื่อพิจารณาอนุมัติโครงการกู้ยืมเงิน ทั้งนี้ผู้พิการทั้ง 4 รายได้รับการพิจารณาอนุมัติจากคณะอนุกรรมการให้เงินทุนไปประกอบอาชีพเพื่อสร้างรายได้ให้กับครอบครัวอย่างยั่งยืนต่อไป พร้อมกันนี้ที่ประชุมยังได้อนุมัติโครงการที่ขอสนับสนุนจากกองทุนส่งเสริมและพัฒนาคุณภาพชีวิตคนพิการจำนวน 2 โครงการคืออนุมัติงบให้กับ สมาคมส่งเสริมอาชีพคนพิการจังหวัดภูเก็ต จำนวน 90,540 บาทในการจัดอบรม การทำไม้กวาดดอกหญ้า ให้กับคนพิการจำนวน 23 คนและครอบครัวต่อไปและอนุมัติงบให้กับสมาคมคนตาบอดจำนวน 198,300 บาทในการจัดอบรมโครงการนวดฝ่าเท้าให้กับคนตาบอดจำนวน 2 รุ่น รุ่นละ 15 คนเพื่อมีอาชีพติดตัวใช้ในการหารายได้เลี้ยงตัวเองและครอบครัวต่อไป
อย่างไรก็ตามในวันที่ 24 ธันวาคมนี้ทางจังหวัดภูเก็ตยังได้ร่วมกับองค์การบริหารส่วนจังหวัดภูเก็ตและสมาคมสภาคนพิการทุกประเภทในจังหวัดภูเก็ตเตรียมจัดงานวันคนพิการขึ้นที่ หอประชุมใหม่ มหาวิทยาลัยราชภัฎภูเก็ต เพื่อเสริมสร้างความเข้าใจของสังคมต่อคนพิการ การยอมรับคนพิการเข้าร่วมในกิจกรรม ทั้งทางด้านสังคมและเศรษฐกิจส่งเสริมสิทธิและศักยภาพคนพิการด้วย.
