การทำฝายแม้วตามแนวพระราชดำริพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวฯ สามารถช่วยแก้ปัญหาภัยแล้ง และบรรเทาความเดือดร้อนประชาชนได้จริง ท้องถิ่นเตรียมสร้างเพิ่มเติม

ปัญหาภัยแล้งที่ขยายวงกว้าง และทวีความรุนแรง ส่งผลให้ท้องถิ่นต้องเร่งหาทางแก้ไข และบรรเทาความเดือดร้อนราษฎร โดยการนำแนวพระราชดำริพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวฯ ในเรื่องการสร้างฝายขนาดเล็ก หรือ ฝายแม้ว ชะลอการไหลของน้ำธรรมชาติที่มีเหลืออยู่น้อย ให้เกิดประโยชน์ต่อราษฎรมากที่สุด ทั้งนี้ องค์การบริหารส่วนตำบลบางทอง ได้ทดลองทำฝายแม้วกั้นลำคลองนาตาคำ คลองสายเล็กๆ ส่งผลให้น้ำที่กักเก็บไว้ได้สร้างความชุมชื้นให้แก่พื้นที่โดยรอบ สามารถนำไปใช้ประโยชน์ในด้านการอุปโภคบริโภค รวมถึงการเกษตรได้เป็นอย่างดี นอกจากนี้บริเวณที่สร้างฝายแม้วยังกลายเป็นสถานที่พักผ่อนหย่อนใจ เล่นน้ำคลายร้อนของราษฎรในพื้นที่ใกล้เคียง เกิดความชุ่มชื้นในบริเวณดังกล่าวอย่างชัดเจน

นายนิโรจน์ เกตุแก้ว นายก อบต.บางทอง อ.ท้ายเหมือง จ.พังงา เปิดเผยว่า อบต.บางทอง ได้เร่งเสนอโครงการจัดทำฝายแม้ว ซึ่งเป็นฝายขนาดเล็ก โดยอาศัยความร่วมมือของราษฎรในพื้นที่ อีกไม่น้อยกว่า 20 จุด ซึ่งเชื่อว่าจะช่วยแก้ปัญหาภัยแล้งในพื้นที่ได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ พร้อมทั้งจะขยายแนวพระราชดำริฯ นี้ออกไปให้ครอบคลุมทุกหมู่บ้านในอนาคตด้วย
