พิธีเปิดการแข่งขัน Toyota Motor Sport 2016 สนามที่ 1 ณ สวนสาธารณะสะพานหิน จังหวัดภูเก็ต
เมื่อวันที่ 3 กรกรฎาคม  2559  เวลา 13.30 น.ที่สวนสาธารณะสะพานหิน อ.เมือง จ.ภูเก็ต ได้มีพิธีเปิดการแข่งขันโตโยต้ามอเตอร์สปอร์ต2016 ซึ่งจังหวัดภูเก็ตได้รับเลือกให้เป็นสังเวียนประลองความเร็วในศึกชิงจ้าวทางเรียบเป็นสนามแรกในภูมิภาค โดยมีนายประเจียด อักษร ธรรมกุล รองผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดภูเก็ต เป็นประธาน ร่วมด้วย นายวุฒิกร สุริยะฉันทนานนท์ ผู้ช่วยกรรมการผู้จัดการใหญ่อาวุโส บริษัท โตโยต้า มอเตอร์ ประเทศไทย ราเชลล์ ได้ผลปัญญา รองผู้ว่าการกีฬาแห่งประเทศไทย นายกิตติภูมิ จาวจักรศิริ กรรมการในคณะกรรมการกีฬาอาชีพ การกีฬาแห่งประเทศไทย นายกวี ตันสุคตานนท์. รองนายกเทศมนตรีนครภูเก็ต นายวิรัช พาที ผู้อำนวยการการกีฬาแห่งประเทศไทย (ภูเก็ต) นายวิบูลย์ชัย ณ ระนอง กรรมการผู้จัดการบริษัท โตโยต้า เพิร์ล จำกัด และ นางทัศนีย์ ณ ระนอง รองกรรมการผู้จัดการฯ ตลอดจนแขกผู้มีเกียรติและชาวภูเก็ตร่วมเป็นเกียรติ

บริษัท โตโยต้า มอเตอร์ ประเทศไทย จำกัด บุกเบิกวงการมอเตอร์สปอร์ตของไทย ตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ.2529 ด้วยความมุ่งมั่นที่จะยกระดับวงการมอเตอร์สปอร์ตของประเทศไทย เริ่มตั้งแต่ระดับเยาวชนต่อเนื่องไปถึงการสนับสนุนนักแข่งในระดับอาชีพเพื่อเป็นการสร้างโอกาสให้นักแข่งไทยได้สร้างชื่อเสียงให้กับประเทศ ทำให้โตโยต้าก้าวขึ้นเป็นผู้นำในวงการมอเตอร์สปอร์ตของไทยมาอย่างแท้จริง

ปีนี้เป็นปีที่โตโยต้าจัดกิจกรรมมอเตอร์สปอร์ตในประเทศไทยครบ 30 ปี โดยตลอดระยะเวลาที่ผ่านมา เรามีความมุ่งมั่นที่จะร่วมเป็นส่วนหนึ่งในการพัฒนาวงการมอเตอร์สปอร์ตไทย เริ่มตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ. 2529 ด้วยการสนับสนุนทีมแข่ง Toyota Team Thailand จากนั้นได้เริ่มจัดการแข่งขัน Toyota Motorsport พร้อมกับก่อตั้ง Toyota Racing School เพื่อเตรียมความพร้อมและพัฒนาทักษะให้กับนักแข่งหน้าใหม่ รวมถึงสนับสนุนนักแข่งที่มีศักยภาพเข้าแข่งขันในระดับอาชีพ”

โตโยต้า มอเตอร์สปอร์ต 2016 ได้พัฒนาให้มีความตื่นเต้นเร้าใจยิ่งขึ้นอย่างต่อเนื่อง ภายใต้แนวคิด “Fast Fun Fest” เริ่มจากการเปิดตัวการแข่งขันรุ่น ไฮลักซ์ รีโว่ วันเมคเรซ เป็นครั้งแรก กับเครื่องยนต์ 2,400 ซีซี บทพิสูจน์ของกระบะสายพันธุ์แกร่ง กับช่วงล่างที่หนึบและสมรรถนะที่แรงสุดขีด พร้อมด้วยการแข่งขันรุ่นโคโรลล่า อัลติส วันเมคเรซ รุ่น วีออส วันเมคเรซ และรุ่นวีออส วันเมคเรซ เลดี้คัพ

นักแข่งมือใหม่ทุกคนจะต้องผ่านการอบรมจากโครงการ Toyota Racing School เพื่อเรียนรู้กฎ กติกา มารยาทที่ถูกต้องในการแข่งขัน ซึ่งเป็นการเตรียมพื้นฐานที่ดีสำหรับการเข้าร่วมแข่งขันอย่างเร้าใจกับการแข่งขัน วันเมคเรซ ทั้ง 4 รุ่น ไฮลักซ์ รีโว่ วันเมคเรซ โคโรลล่า อัสติส วันเมคเรซ วีออส วันเมคเรซ วีออส วันเมคเรซ เลดี้คัพ

การแข่งขัน โตโยต้า มอเตอร์สปอร์ตในประเทศไทย เรายังคงเน้นย้ำภาพลักษณ์ของโตโยต้าด้านความเป็นผู้นำวงการมอเตอร์สปอร์ต ภายใต้แนวคิด Fast Fun Fest โดยไฮไลท์ในปีนี้ คือ การแข่งขันรุ่น ไฮลักซ์ รีโว่ วันเมคเรซ ที่จะมาสร้างสีสันให้การแข่งขันเร้าใจมากขึ้น พร้อมกันนี้ในระดับนานาชาติเราได้ส่งรถยนต์โคโรลล่า อัลติส เอสสปอร์ต เข้าร่วมแข่งขันรายการ ADAC Zurich 24h N?rburgring ที่ประเทศเยอรมนีเป็นปีที่สามติดต่อกัน เพื่อพิสูจน์สมรรถนะการขับขี่และความทนทาน จากฝีมือการขับของนักแข่ง Toyota Team Thailand และเป็นการส่งเสริมวงการมอเตอร์สปอร์ตควบคู่ไปกับการสร้างพัฒนาการสำหรับนักแข่งไทยอย่างแท้จริง”
