จังหวัดภูเก็ตหยิบโครงการ อ่าวภูเก็ต มาร่วมหารืออีกครั้ง ในการประชุม กรอ. เพื่อขับเคลื่อนและส่งเสริมการพัฒนาเศรษฐกิจของจังหวัด

เมื่อวันที่ 14 มิถุนายน 2559  เวลา 10.00 น.ที่ห้องประชุมชั้น 2 อาคารคอซิมบี้ ศาลากลางจังหวัดภูเก็ต นายจำเริญ ทิพญพงศ์ธาดา ผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดภูเก็ต เป็นประธานการประชุมคณะกรรมการร่วมภาครัฐและเอกชน เพื่อพัฒนาและแก้ไขปัญหาทางเศรษฐกิจจังหวัดภูเก็ต (กรอ.จังหวัดภูเก็ต) ครั้งที่ 7/2559 เพื่อติดตามและพิจารณาข้อเสนอของหน่วยงานภาครัฐและเอกชน เพื่อขับเคลื่อนและส่งเสริมการพัฒนาเศรษฐกิจของจังหวัดภูเก็ต โดยมีนายประเจียด อักษรธรรมกุล รองผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดภูเก็ต ตลอดจนหัวหน้าส่วนราชการ หน่วยงานภาครัฐ และเอกชนที่เกี่ยวข้อง อาทิ หอการค้าจังหวัดภูเก็ต สมาคมธุรกิจการท่องเที่ยวจังหวัดภูเก็ต สมาคมอสังหาริมทรัพย์ภูเก็ต สภาเกษตรกรจังหวัดภูเก็ต เป็นต้น เข้าร่วม

วาระการประชุมสำคัญ ประกอบด้วย การติดตามความคืบหน้าโครงการก่อสร้างโครงข่ายถนนและอุโมงค์ การพัฒนาปรับปรุงประตูเมืองภูเก็ต Phuket Gateway, ความคืบหน้าการจัดระเบียบสายสื่อสารจังหวัดภูเก็ต นอกจากนี้ยังมีการพิจารณาข้อเสนอของหอการค้าจังหวัดภูเก็ตเพื่อขับเคลื่อนและส่งเสริมการพัฒนาเศรษฐกิจของจังหวัดภูเก็ต ประกอบด้วย การจัดระเบียบเรือสปีดโบ๊ท, โครงการอาชีวศึกษาช่วยผู้ประกอบการมั่งคั่ง, การนำน้ำประปาจากเขื่อนรัชประภามาภูเก็ต และทัวร์จีนเข้าไปทำสัมปทานกับวัดบางแห่งในพื้นที่จังหวัดภูเก็ต เพื่อให้นายทุนจำหน่ายวัตถุมงคลและของที่ระลึกให้แก่นักท่องเที่ยวกรุ๊ปจีน
อย่างไรก็ตามในวาระอื่นๆ ของการประชุมฯ ได้มีการนำเสนอโครงการพัฒนาอ่าวภูเก็ต ซึ่ง กรมโยธาธิการและผังเมือง โดยสำนักงานโยธาธิการและผังเมืองจังหวัดภูเก็ต ได้จัดทำไว้ สรุปว่า จะมีการสร้างเกาะ 2 เกาะในทะเล คือ เกาะ MICE กับเกาะ MARINA ขณะนั้น (ปี 2546) ใช้เงินลงทุนรวมประมาณ 63,500 ล้านบาท ได้มีการหยิบยกโครงการดังกล่าวมาหารือกันใหม่ โดยเฉพาะความเหมาะสมของโครงการ และประโยชน์ที่จะเกิดขึ้นกับภูเก็ต ในการพัฒนาเศรษฐกิจของเมืองและเป็นแลนด์มาร์กแห่งใหม่ เพื่อเสริมสร้างศักยภาพด้านการแข่งขัน

ขณะที่นายจำเริญ กล่าวว่า โครงการนี้ได้ริเริ่มกันมากว่า 13 ปีแล้ว แต่ได้ชะงักไปด้วยปัจจัยหลายอย่าง ส่วนจะมีการผลักดันต่อหรือไม่ คงต้องถามความเห็นจากประชาชนชาวภูเก็ตว่าเห็นด้วยหรือไม่อย่างไร รวมไปถึงในส่วนของภาคเอกชนด้วย
