นายสุพจน์ ชนะกิจ นายอำเภอเมืองภูเก็ตกล่าวในโครงการผู้ว่าพบสื่อมวลชนที่มีนายนิสิต จันทร์ สมวงศ์ ผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดภูเก็ตเป็นประธานเกี่ยวกับโครงการจดทะเบียนสมรสในวันแห่งความรัก 14 ก.พ.ที่จะถึงนี้ว่า เนื่องจากวันดังกล่าวมีคู่รักจำนวนมากมาจดทะเบียนสมรสเป็นประจำทุกปี โดยในปีนี้วันแห่งความแห่งความรักหรือวันวาเลนไทน์ตรงกับวันเสาร์ที่ 14 กุมภาพันธ์ซึ่งเป็นวันหยุดราชการแต่สำนักทะเบียนอำเภอเมืองภูเก็ตจะเปิดจดทะเบียนสมรสเป็นกรณีพิเศษตั้งแต่เวลา 08.30 น.-16.30 น. ณ ที่ว่าการอำเภอเมือง เพื่ออำนวยความสะดวกแก่คู่รักที่ให้ความสำคัญกับวันวาเลนไทน์และต้องการจดทะเบียนในวันนั้น ส่งเสริมคู่สมรสให้ดำเนินการถูกต้องตามกฎหมาย เป็นการสร้างความสัมพันธ์ที่ดีทางสถาบันครอบครัว สร้างคาวมอบอุ่นและเกิดความยอมรับทางสังคม
สำหรับคู่รักที่ประสงค์จดทะเบียนสมรสในวันดังกล่าว ต้องเตรียมหลักฐานดังนี้ คือบัตรประจำตัวประชาชน สำเนาทะเบียนบ้าน หนังสือสำคัญหย่าร้าง กรณีที่เคยจดทะเบียนสมรสมาแล้ว หนังสือสำคัญทะเบียนสมรส/มรณะบัตร กรณีคู่สมรสเสียชีวิต หนังสือสำคัญเปลี่ยนชื่อ-สกุล หากเคยเปลี่ยนมาแล้ว ส่วนกรณีที่คู่สมรสฝ่ายใดเป็นคนต่างด้าวต้องนำหนังสือเดินทาง หรือหนังสือรับรองสมรสสถานทูตหรือสถานกงสุลที่สังกัดในพื้นที่นั้น พร้อมแปลเป็นภาษไทยรับรองการแปลโดยการทรวงการต่างประเทศและคู่สมรสต้องมีอายุตั้งแต่ 17 ปีบริบูรณ์ขึ้นไปและคนที่อายุไม่ครบ 20 ปี บริบูรณ์ ต้องให้ผู้ปกครองตามกกหมายให้ความยินยอม.
