เมื่อวันที่ 7 กรกฎาคม 2558 ที่ห้องประชุมสำนักงานวัฒนธรรมจังหวัดภูเก็ต ดร.พัลลภ สิงหเสนี รองผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดภูเก็ต เป็นประธานในการประชุมเพื่อพิจารณาคัดเลือกสภาวัฒนธรรมดีเด่นประจำปี 2558 โดยมีนางอุไร เลอศักดิ์อนุสรณ์ นักวิชาการวัฒนธรรมชำนาญการพิเศษ และส่วนราชการที่เกี่ยวข้องเข้าร่วม
ทั้งนี้ตามพระราชบัญญัติวัฒนธรรมแห่งชาติ พ.ศ. 2553 กำหนดให้มีการจัดตั้งสภาวัฒนธรรมในแต่ละระดับเพื่อประโยชน์ในการอนุรักษ์ ฟื้นฟูจารีตประเพณี ภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่น ศิลปวัฒนธรรมอันดีงามของท้องถิ่นและของชาติ และทางกรมส่งเสริมวัฒนธรรมและสำนักงานวัฒนธรรมจังหวัดได้ดำเนินการจัดตั้งสภาวัฒนธรรมในทุกระดับเสร็จสิ้นแล้ว ในปี พ.ศ. 2556 ซึ่งในปีนี้ (2558) เป็นการครบวาระ 3 ปี ในการดำเนินงานของสภาวัฒนธรรม ทางกรมส่งเสริมวัฒนธรรมจึงได้จัดให้มีการประกวดเพื่อพิจารณาสภาวัฒนธรรมดีเด่นขึ้นเพื่อเป็นการส่งเสริมและสนับสนุนให้เกิดกระบวนการขับเคลื่อนงานวัฒนธรรมในพื้นที่เพื่อประโยชน์ในการอนุรักษ์ สืบสานศาสนา ศิลปะและวัฒนธรรมของชาติให้คงอยู่ ตลอดจนเป็นการยกย่อง เชิดชูเกียรติและสร้างขวัญกำลังใจให้กับสภาวัฒนธรรมที่ดี ผลงานดีเด่น และให้ความสำคัญกับการดำเนินงานทางวัฒนธรรม ซึ่งผลการพิจารณาคัดเลือกของจังหวัดภูเก็ตในระดับตำบลได้แก่ สภาวัฒนธรรมตำบลป่าคลอก ส่วนระดับอำเภอได้แก่วัฒนธรรมอำเภอเมืองภูเก็ต
