เมื่อวันที่ 22 พฤศจิกายน  2559 เวลา05.50 น. ที่ หาดราไวย์ อำเภอเมืองจังหวัดภูเก็ต นายอรุณ โสฬส นายกเทศมนตรีตำบลราไวย์ นำประชาชนชาวเลราไวย์กว่า 200 ครัวเรือน มาร่วมกิจกรรมรวมพลังแห่งความภักดี

นายอรุณ โสฬส นายกเทศมนตรีตำบลราไวย์ เป็นประธานนำประชาชนชาวเลราไวย์ร่วม กิจกรรมรวมพลังแห่งความภักดี ด้วยการทำดีด้วยกาย ร่วมจุดเทียนและเก็บขยะบริเวณหน้าหาดราไวย์ เพื่อไปถวายเป็นพระราชกุศลแด่พระบาทสมเด็จพระปรมินทรมหาภูมิพลอดุลยเดช
จากนั้นในเวลา 8.00 น.ชาวเลราไวย์ อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดภูเก็ต จะร่วมทำดีด้วยวาจาด้วยการร้องเพลงชาติกล่าวคำปฏิญาณตน และร้องเพลงสรรเสริญพระบารมีพร้อมกันกับประชาชนทุกหมู่เหล่าทั่วประเทศ

ทั้งนี้บริเวณหาดราไวย์แห่งนี้เมื่อปี 2502 พระบาทสมเด็จพระปรมินทรมหาภูมิพลอดุลยเดช ได้เสด็จเยี่ยมราษฎรชาวเลราไวย์เป็นการส่วนพระองค์ ได้มีพระราชกระแสรับสั่งถามถึงความเป็นอยู่การประกอบอาชีพของชาวเลราไวย์และทรงพระราชทานนามให้เรียกชาวน้ำแต่เดิมว่าเป็นชาวไทยใหม่ซึ่งเป็นพระมหากรุณาธิคุณที่พระองค์ทรงมีต่อพสกนิกรทุกหมู่เหล่า
นับจากวันนั้นชาวเลราไวย์หรือชาวไทยใหม่มีชีวิตความเป็นอยู่ที่ดีขึ้น ได้รับสวัสดิการด้านการศึกษาด้านสาธารณสุขและได้รับอนุญาตให้ทำบัตรประชาชนเป็นพลเมืองไทยอย่างสมบูรณ์
