เมื่อวันที่ 5 มิถุนายน 2558 ที่บริเวณลานสนามกีฬาด้านข้างสโมสรศูนย์ควบคุมการบิน ภายในท่าอากาศยานนานาชาติจังหวัดภูเก็ต นางมนฤดี เกตุพันธุ์ ผู้อำนวยการท่าอากาศยานภูเก็ต นำหัวหน้าส่วนราชการ รัฐวิสาหกิจ บริษัทสายการบิน ผู้ประกอบการ ผู้อำนวยการโรงเรียน และนักเรียนจากโรงเรียนต่าง ๆ ซึ่งตั้งอยู่โดยรอบบริเวณท่าอากาศยานนานาชาติภูเก็ต กว่า 600 คน ร่วมทำกิจกรรมเนื่องในวันสิ่งแวดล้อมโลก 6 มิถุนายน 2558 ร่วมกันเก็บขยะกับกิจกรรม “ท่าอากาศยานภูเก็ตรักษ์ชุมชน” ซึ่งเป็นการรณรงค์รักษาความสะอาด ปรับปรุงภูมิทัศน์ บริเวณบนบกตั้งแต่บริเวณหัวทางวิ่ง 09 ภายในท่าอากาศยานนานาชาติภูเก็ตไปจนถึงที่ทำการอุทยานแห่งชาติสิรินาถ อำเภอถลาง จังหวัดภูเก็ต
นางมนฤดี เกตุพันธุ์ ผู้อำนวยการท่าอากาศยานภูเก็ต กล่าวถึงการจัดกิจกรรม “ท่าอากาศยานภูเก็ตรักษ์ชุมชน” ในครั้งนี้ว่า เนื่องจากท่าอากาศยานนานาชาติภูเก็ต เป็นท่าอากาศยานที่มีอาณาเขตติดต่อกับแหล่งท่องเที่ยวที่สำคัญของจังหวัดภูเก็ต คือ อุทยานแห่งชาติสิรินาถ ซึ่งเป็นสถานที่พักผ่อนหย่อนใจของประชาชนในจังหวัดภูเก็ต และจังหวัดใกล้เคียง โดยในช่วงหน้ามรสุมจะมีปริมาณขยะลอยมาติดบริเวณหน้าหาดเป็นจำนวนมาก ทำให้เกิดภาพลักษณ์ที่ไม่สวยงาม ทั้งนี้ เพื่อเป็นการทำประโยชน์ให้กับสังคม สร้างความสามัคคีปรองดอง และสร้างความสัมพันธ์อันดีกับชุมชนโดยรอบท่าอากาศยานนานาชาติภูเก็ตด้วย
