นายโชคชัย เดชอมรธัญ ผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดภูเก็ต กล่าวว่า ขอขอบคุณทุกหน่วยงานที่มาร่วมบริจาคสิ่งของเพื่อช่วยเหลือผู้ประสบอุทกภัย กิจกรรมในครั้งนี้ไม่ใช่วันแรกเนื่องจากประชาชนและทุกภาคส่วนในจังหวัดภูเก็ตได้มีการนำสิ่งของไปช่วยเหลือประชาชนในพื้นที่ภาคใต้อย่างต่อเนื่องโดยเฉพาะที่จังหวัดนครศรีธรรมราชซึ่งประสบปัญหาอุทกภัยอย่างรุนแรง

ขณะนี้พื้นที่ประสบปัญหาอุทกภัยส่วนใหญ่ประชาชนขาดแคลนน้ำดื่มที่สะอาด  น้ำประปาหยุดไหล ไฟฟ้าดับ ไม่มีอุปกรณ์ในการประกอบอาหารดังนั้นสิ่งจำเป็นในขณะนี้คืออาหารกระป๋องที่พร้อมรับประทานได้จะต้องมีฝาเปิดสะดวกและง่าย

สำหรับในส่วนของจังหวัดภูเก็ตซึ่งได้ตั้งศูนย์รับบริจาคสิ่งของเพื่อช่วยเหลือผู้ประสบภัย โดยจะเป็นศูนย์กลางประสานกับจังหวัดที่ได้รับความเดือดร้อนว่าต้องการสิ่งของบริจาคสิ่งใดจากนั้นจังหวัดภูเก็ตจะบริหารจัดการนำสิ่งของที่ผู้ประสบภัยต้องการไปช่วยเหลือประชาชนที่ประสบอุทกภัยได้ตรงตามความต้องการและตามความจำเป็น ซึ่งจะทำให้การช่วยเหลือประชาชนที่ได้รับความเดือดร้อนมีความทั่วถึง โอกาสนี้จึงขอเชิญชวนองค์กรภาครัฐเอกชนและประชาชนสามารถร่วมบริจาคสิ่งของได้ที่องค์กรปกครองส่วนท้องถิ่น หรือที่ว่าการอำเภอและที่ศูนย์รับบริจาคช่วยเหลือผู้ประสบอุทกภัยสำนักงานป้องกันและบรรเทาสาธารณภัยจังหวัดภูเก็ตศาลากลางจังหวัดภูเก็ตได้ทุกวันจนกว่าจะมีการประกาศปิดศูนย์
