เมื่อวันที่ 3 กันยายน 2558  เวลา 13.30 น.ที่หมวดบินเฉพาะกิจ ทัพเรือภาคที่ 3 สนามบินภูเก็ต อ.ถลาง จ.ภูเก็ต นายสุธี ทองแย้ม รองผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดภูเก็ต พร้อมด้วย น.อ.พงศ์จักร อุไรมาลย์ ผู้บังคับหมวดบินเฉพาะกิจ ทัพเรือภาคที่ 3 นางบุษยา ใจเปี่ยม ประชาสัมพันธ์จังหวัดภูเก็ต นายทัศพล กระจ่างดารา นักวิชาการประมงชำนาญการพิเศษ หัวหน้ากลุ่มงานสำรวจและวิเคราะห์สภาวะทรัพยากรและประมง ศูนย์วิจัยและพัฒนาประมงทะเลฝั่งอันดามัน (ภูเก็ต) นายก้องเกียรติ กิตติวัฒนาวงศ์ หัวหน้ากลุ่มสัตว์ทะเลหายาก ศูนย์วิจัยและพัฒนาชายฝั่งทางทะเลและชายฝั่งอันดามัน และนายเดวิค มาติน ผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านฉลาม และช่างภาพใต้น้ำ ชาวฝรั่งเศส แถลงผลการบินสำรวจบริเวณชายฝั่งหาดกะรน อ.เมืองภูเก็ต และตรวจสอบกรณีเกิดเหตุสัตว์ทะเลไม่ทราบชนิดกัดนักท่องเที่ยวชาวออสเตรเลีย นางสาวเจน เนียมี อายุ 37 ปี ได้รับบาดเจ็บ มีบาดแผลฉกรรจ์บริเวณหลังและใต้ฝ่าเท้าซ้าย ต้องเข้ารับการรักษาที่โรงพยาบาล เหตุเกิดบริเวณชายหาดกะรนตรงข้ามที่ทำการ สภ.กะรน อ.เมืองภูเก็ต เมื่อช่วงสายของวันที่ 1 กันยายน 2558 ที่ผ่านมา

นายสุธี ทองแย้ม กล่าวว่า จากกรณีที่มีนักท่องเที่ยวถูกสัตว์ทะเลกัดบริเวณเท้าและเป็นแผลฉกรรจ์ ซึ่งหลังรับทราบทางจังหวัดได้สั่งการให้ทางศูนย์อนุรักษ์ทรัพยากรทางทะเลและชายฝั่งที่ 5 ภูเก็ต และตำรวจน้ำภูเก็ต นำเรือพร้อมนักประดาน้ำสำรวจบริเวณจุดเกิดเหตุ เพื่อตรวจสอบว่าสัตว์ทะเลที่ทำร้ายนักท่องเที่ยวเป็นสัตว์ชนิดใด นอกจากนนี้ยังได้ร่วมกับทางทัพเรือภาคที่ 3 นำเฮลิคอปเตอร์บินสำรวจบริเวณอ่าวกะรน เพื่อตรวจสอบหาชนิดของสัตว์ทะเลที่ทำร้ายนักท่องเที่ยวอีกทางหนึ่งเพื่อความชัดเจน เนื่องจาก ขณะนี้มีความเห็นของนักวิชาการออกเป็น 2 ส่วน กลุ่มหนึ่งมองว่า เป็นบาดแผลจากถูกฉลามกัด ขณะที่อีกกลุ่มหนึ่งมองว่าเป็นบาดแผลเกิดจากปลาปักเป้าหรือกลุ่มปลาวัว

“ไม่ว่าบาดแผลดังกล่าวจะเกิดจากถูกปลาชนิดใดทำร้าย ในส่วนของจังหวัดภูเก็ต โดยผู้ว่าฯ ได้มีมาตรการในการเฝ้าระวังและดูแลความปลอดภัยให้กับนักท่องเที่ยว สั่งการให้ทางอำเภอและองค์กรปกครองส่วนท้องถิ่นพื้นที่ได้แจ้งให้กับทางโรงแรมทราบ และเพื่อแจ้งเตือนนักท่องเที่ยวระมัดระวังในการลงเล่นน้ำบริเวณดังกล่าว ขณะเดียวกันได้สั่งการให้ศูนย์อนุรักษ์ทรัพยากรทางทะเลฯ นำเรือและนักประดาน้ำออกสำรวจใต้น้ำบริเวณที่เกิดเหตุและใกล้เคียง จากการสำรวจก็ยังไม่พบสิ่งปกติ พบเพียงปลาสวยงาม และปลาขนาดเล็กที่ไม่สามารถทำร้ายร่างกายนักท่องเที่ยวได้ พร้อมกันนี้ยังได้ร่วมกับทางทัพเรือภาคที่ 3 และนักวิชาการขึ้นบินสำรวจเพื่อพิสูจน์ทราบ แต่ก็ยังไม่พบสัตว์ใหญ่หรือความผิดปกติแต่อย่างใด”

นายสุธี กล่าวด้วยว่า จากการดำเนินการมาตรการต่างๆ ดังกล่าวของทางจังหวัด ทั้งการประกาศเตือน และการเฝ้าระวังทั้งทางทะเลและทางอากาศ สามารถสร้างความมั่นใจให้กับนักท่องเที่ยว สามารถมาท่องเที่ยวจังหวัดภูเก็ตได้ด้วยความปลอดภัย แม้ว่าขณะนี้จะยังไม่สามารถสรุปได้ว่าสัตว์ชนิดใดที่ทำร้ายนักท่องเที่ยว เนื่องจากยังไม่เจอ แต่เรามีมาตรการในการดูแลและสร้างความมั่นใจให้กับผู้ที่มาท่องเที่ยวได้อย่างปลอดภัย รวมทั้งยังคงมีเจ้าหน้าที่คอยตรวจสอบและเฝ้าระวังในจุดเกิดเหตุอย่างต่อเนื่อง ขณะภาพรวมบริเวณชายหาดดังกล่าวยังคงมีนักท่องเที่ยวลงเล่นน้ำตามปกติ

น.อ.พงศ์จักร อุไรมาลย์ ผู้บังคับหมวดบินเฉพาะกิจ ทัพเรือภาคที่ 3 กล่าวเพิ่มเติมว่า จากการบินสำรวจลาดตระเวนบริเวณชายหาดต่างๆ ตามภารกิจปกติ ซึ่งจะมีการบิน 6-7 เที่ยวบินต่อสัปดาห์ ไม่เคยพบเห็นปลาขนาดใหญ่ โดยในส่วนของหมวดบินเฉพาะกิจฯ พร้อมเข้าสนับสนุนภารกิจของจังหวัดตามที่มีการร้องขอ

ขณะที่นายก้องเกียรติ กิตติวัฒนาวงศ์ หัวหน้ากลุ่มสัตว์ทะเลหายาก ศูนย์วิจัยและพัฒนาชายฝั่งทางทะเลและชายฝั่งอันดามัน ยังคงยืนยันว่า จากการที่ตรวจสอบรอยบาดแผล และพูดคุยกันกับนักท่องเที่ยวเกี่ยวกับลักษณะของการถูกกัด ซึ่งบอกว่า จะเป็นการกัด 1-2 ครั้ง โดยอยู่บริเวณน้ำตื้นประมาณ 1 เมตร และกระโดดบริเวณคลื่นหัวแตก รวมถึงลักษณะของบาดแผลมีการฉีกขาด ลักษณะของฟันที่จะทำให้เกิดบาดแผลในลักษณะดังกล่าวได้ มีเพียงฉลามอย่างเดียว และมีผู้เชี่ยวชาญมาช่วยยืนยัน นอกจากนี้ในบริเวณดังกล่าวก็เคยมีการตกได้ฉลามหูดำปีละ 2-3 ตัว แต่ฉลามดังกล่าวจะพบได้ในแนวปะการัง โอกาสที่จะทำร้ายคนมีน้อย ผู้เชี่ยวชาญจึงมองว่าน่าจะเป็นฉลามชนิดบลูชาร์กหรือฉลามกระทิงซึ่งใหญ่สุด 3-4 เมตร ส่วนรอยบาดแผลของนักท่องเที่ยวที่ถูกกัดนั้นมีเส้นผ่าศูนย์กลางประมาณ 10 เซนติเมตร น่าจะมีความยาวประมาณ 1-1.5 เมตร แต่ฉลามชนิดนี้จะมีโอกาสพบได้น้อยมาก

ด้าน นายทัศพล กระจ่างดารา นักวิชาการประมงชำนาญการพิเศษ หัวหน้ากลุ่มงานสำรวจและวิเคราะห์สภาวะทรัพยากรและประมง ศูนย์วิจัยและพัฒนาประมงทะเลฝั่งอันดามัน (ภูเก็ต) กล่าวว่า ข้อมูลของกรมประมงเกี่ยวกับฉลามบลูชาร์กหรือฉลากหัวบาตรนั้น สามารถพบอยู่กระจายทั่วไปทั้งฝั่งทะเลอันดามันและอ่าวไทย เป็นปลาขนาดเล็กที่เข้ามาอาศัยอยู่บริเวณปากแม่น้ำ แต่จากข้อมูลพบว่ามีการทำร้ายคนเล่นน้ำมีน้อยมาก ดังนั้นความเห็นจากทางกรมประมง และปรึกษากับผู้เชี่ยวชาญที่เกี่ยวข้องจากประเทศมาเลเซียและนักดำน้ำที่มีประสบการณ์สูง ยืนยันว่า บาดแผลดังกล่าวไม่ใช่บาดแผลที่เกิดจากปลาฉลามกัด เพราะหากฉลากกัดเนื้อจะหลุดไปทั้งก้อน เพราะเมื่องับแล้วจะมีการสะบัดหัว แต่ลักษณะแผลของนักท่องเที่ยวชาวออสเตรเลียนั้น เป็นการปักลงไปแล้วเนื้อบนหลังเท้าหลุด ดังนั้นจึงสันนิษฐานว่า บาดแผลที่เกิดขึ้นนั้นเป็นบาดแผลจากกลุ่มปลาปักเป้าหรือกลุ่มปลาวัว แต่ปกติปลาเหล่านี้ก็จะไม่ทำร้ายคน แต่อาจเป็นความบังเอิญที่ปลาชนิดนี้ผ่านมายังบริเวณที่นักท่องเที่ยวเล่นน้ำอยู่ และหวงอาณาเขต เมื่อคนไปโดนจึงเกิดอาการตกใจ และงับจนเกิดเป็นแผลขึ้น ประกอบกับจากการพูดคุยกับแพทย์ที่ทำการรักษานักท่องเที่ยวคนดังกล่าวจึงยังคงยืนยันว่าเป็นบาดแผลจากกลุ่มปลาปักเป้าหรือปลาวัว
