นายจำเริญ ทิพญพงศ์ธาดา ผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดภูเก็ตเดินทางมาเป็นประธานฝ่ายฆราวาสในการประกอบพิธีบำเพ็ญพระกุศลครบ 2 ปี แห่งการสิ้นพระชนม์สมเด็จพระญาณสังวร สมเด็จพระสังฆราชสกลมหาสังฆปริณายก พร้อมกันนี้ ได้ร่วมทำบุญตักบาตร ข้าวสวยแด่พระภิกษุสงฆ์ ณ วัดท่าเรือ ตำบล ศรีสุนทร อำเภอถลาง จังหวัดภูเก็ต

การประกอบพิธีในครั้งนี้ เนื่องด้วย วัดบวรนิเวศวิหารได้กำหนด จัดงานบำเพ็ญพระกุศล ครบ 2 ปี แห่งการสิ้นพระชนม์สมเด็จพระญาณสังวร สมเด็จพระสังฆราชสกลมหาสังฆปริณายก ระหว่างวันที่ 3-25 ตุลาคม 2558 โดยกำหนดให้วันนี้ มีการประกอบพิธีสวดพระพุทธมนต์พร้อมกันทั่วประเทศ ทั้งนี้ จังหวัดภูเก็ต โดยสำนักงานพระพุทธศาสนาจังหวัดภูเก็ตจัดขึ้น เพื่อถวายเป็นพระกุศลแด่สมเด็จ พระญาณสังวร สมเด็จพระสังฆราชสกลมหาสังฆ ปริณายก โดยมี พระราชสิริมุนี เจ้าคณะจังหวัดภูเก็ต เจ้าอาวาสวัดท่าเรือ เป็นประธาน ฝ่ายสงฆ์ และมี นายจำเริญ ทิพย์พงศ์ธาดา ผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดภูเก็ต นายประเจียด อักษรธรรมกุล รองผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดภูเก็ต นายวาทิน กรดเต็ม ผู้อำนวยการสำนักงานพระพุทธศาสนาจังหวัดภูเก็ต หัวหน้าส่วนราชการ ในจังหวัดภูเก็ต ผู้นำองค์ปกครองส่วนท้องถิ่นและประชาชนชาวภูเก็ตเข้าร่วมพิธีเป็นจำนวนมาก

สมเด็จพระญาณสังวร สมเด็จพระสังฆราช สกลมหาสังฆปรินายก ประสูติเมื่อวันที่ 3 ตุลาคม  2456  เป็นสมเด็จพระสังฆราช องค์ที่ 19 แห่งกรุงรัตนโกสินทร์ ทรงดำรงตำแหน่งเมื่อปี 2532 ในรัชสมัยพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว (รัชกาลปัจจุบัน) โดยทรงเป็นสมเด็จพระสังฆราชองค์แรกของไทยที่มีพระชันษา 100 ปี และยืนยาวที่สุดในประวัติคณะสงฆ์ไทย สิ้นพระชนม์เมื่อวันที่ 24 ตุลาคม 2556 เนื่องจากติดเชื้อในกระแสพระโลหิต.
