เมื่อวันที่ 8 ธันวาคม 2559 ที่ห้องประชุมสภาองค์การบริหารส่วนจังหวัดภูเก็ตชั้น 2 นายศรัณยู เสมา หัวหน้าสำนักงานจังหวัดภูเก็ต เป็นประธาน การประชุมติดตามและประเมินผลการดำเนินโครงการ Phuket Smart City ภูเก็ตครั้งที่ 2/2559 โดยมีคณะอนุกรรมการติดตามและประเมินผลการดำเนินโครงการ Phuket Smart City ผู้แทนกระทรวงดิจิล เพื่อเศรษฐกิจและสังคม ผู้แทนศูนย์เทคโนโลยีอิเล็กทรอนิกส์และคอมพิวเตอร์แห่งชาติ (NECTEC) หน่วยงานเจ้าภาพหลักการดำเนินโครงการ Phuket Smart City ทั้ง 7 ด้านและหน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้องเข้าร่วม

นายศรัณยู เสมา กล่าวว่า ทางจังหวัดได้เชิญ ผู้แทนกระทรวงดิจิทัล เพื่อเศรษฐกิจและสังคมผู้แทนศูนย์เทคโนโลยีอิเล็กทรอนิกส์ และคอมพิวเตอร์แห่งชาติ (NECTEC) ผู้จัดการ สำนักงานส่งเสริมอุตสาหกรรมซอฟต์แวร์แห่งชาติ (องค์การมหาชน)สาขาภูเก็ต เข้าร่วมประชุมฯ เพื่อขอทราบ ความก้าวหน้าของโครงการ Smart City ปีพ. ศ. 2559 ซึ่งเป็นงบฟังก์ชั่นจากกระทรวงดิจิทัล เพื่อเศรษฐกิจและสังคม และโครงการที่ได้รับการจัดสรรงบประมาณ ในปี พ. ศ. 2560 ที่ดำเนินการในพื้นที่จังหวัดภูเก็ตทั้งหมด รวมไปถึงแนวทางการดำเนินการที่ชัดเจนของโครงการ Phuket Smart City ตามมติครม. ในส่วนของแผนปฎิบัติการ Phuket Smart City จากกระทรวงดิจิทัล เพื่อเศรษฐกิจและสังคม เพื่อจังหวัดภูเก็ต จะได้มีการเตรียมตัว และเชื่อมต่อกับโครงการของจังหวัด เช่น การจัดลำดับความสำคัญของโครงการ ตามแผนปฏิบัติการ Phuket Smart City แหล่งเงินงบประมาณ และดำเนินการในส่วนที่เกี่ยวข้อง

ทั้งนี้ เพื่อให้โครงการดังกล่าวสามารถเชื่อมโยงและต่อยอดกับโครงการต่างๆของจังหวัดเพื่อให้โครงการมีความสมบูรณ์มากที่สุด ตามแผนงานที่ได้มีการวางไว้ต่อไป
