วันที่ 25 กันยายน  2558  ดร. พัลลภ สิงหเสนี รองผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดภูเก็ต นำหัวหน้าส่วนราชการ ผู้บริหารองค์กรปกครองส่วนท้องถิ่น เครือข่ายอาสาสมัคร- พิทักษ์ทรัพยากรธรรมชาติและสิ่งแวดล้อมภูเก็ต องค์กรชมรมต่าง ๆ ตลอดจนภาคประชาชน และภาคเอกชน กว่า 300 คน ร่วมเก็บขยะบริเวณชายหาดป่าตอง อำเภอกะทู้ จังหวัดภูเก็ต พร้อมทั้งทำความสะอาดถนน ตัดแต่งกิ่งต้นไม้ โดยมี 4 องค์กรปกครองส่วนท้องถิ่นในจังหวัดภูเก็ต ซึ่งประกอบด้วย องค์การบริหารส่วนจังหวัดภูเก็ต เทศบาลเมืองป่าตอง เทศบาลเมืองกะทู้ และองค์การบริหารส่วนตำบลกมลา ร่วมกันจัดขึ้นภายใต้โครงการ “เมืองสวย ด้วยมือเรา”

โครงการ “เมืองสวย ด้วยมือเรา” นั้น จัดขึ้นโดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อสนองนโยบายรัฐบาล และจังหวัดภูเก็ตในเรื่องการรักษาความสะอาดเมือง โดยการรักษาความสะอาดพื้นที่สาธารณะ ให้มีความสะอาดสวยงาม เพื่อพัฒนาคุณภาพสิ่งแวดล้อม พัฒนาแหล่งท่องเที่ยว ให้มีภูมิทัศน์ ที่สวยงามเกิดความประทับใจแก่นักท่องเที่ยว อีกทั้งเพื่อสร้างความตระหนัก ปลูกจิตสำนึก ให้กับเยาวชน และประชาชนในการช่วยกันดูแล รักษาความสะอาด เกิดความสามัคคี เกิดจิตสำนึก ในการทำความดีเพื่อสังคมส่วนรวม และประเทศชาติ ที่สำคัญเสริมสร้างความสัมพันธ์และความร่วมมืออันดี ระหว่างองค์กรปกครองส่วนท้องถิ่นและภาคเอกชน รัฐวิสาหกิจ นักเรียนและประชาชนในการดูแล รักษาความสะอาด จังหวัดภูเก็ต.
