เจ้าหน้าที่อุทยานแห่งชาติสิรินาถร่วมกับเจ้าหน้าที่ศูนย์นวัตกรรมอุทยานแห่งชาติฯ ภูเก็ตนำทุ่นลงไปวางเป็นแนวเขตปะการังบริเวณเกาะปลิงตรงข้ามหน้าที่ทำการอุทยานแห่งชาติสิรินาถในพื้นที่รัศมีกว้างกว่า 10 ไร่ ซึ่งการลงทุ่นวางแนวเขตดังกล่าวเพื่อต้องการกั้นไม่ให้นักท่องเที่ยวลงไปเล่นน้ำรวมถึงเรือประมงและเรืออื่นๆไม่ให้จอดหรือแล่นผ่านบริเวณนั้นเพราะจะทำให้แนวปะการังเสียหาย
นายเนรมิต สงแสง ผู้ช่วยหัวหน้าอุทยานแห่งชาติสิรินาถ เปิดเผยว่าการหลังจากที่ศูนย์นวัตกรรมอุทยานแห่งชาติฯ ภูเก็ตเข้าไปสำรวจพบว่าบริเวณดังกล่าวเป็นจุดที่ปะการังน้ำตื้นงอกใหม่สมบูรณ์เลยต้องหามาตรการในการป้องกันความเสียหายที่จะเกิดขึ้นจากการกระทำของมนุษย์ในเบื้องต้นจึงใช้มาตรการเร่งด่วนในระยะแรกคือนำทุ่นไปวางกั้นบริเวณที่เป็นจุดเกิดปะการังในพื้นที่รัศมีกว้างประมาณ 10 ไร่ห้ามมีการเข้าไปเล่นน้ำ ขับเรือผ่านนำเรือมาจอดหรือเดินเข้าไปบริเวณนั้นในช่วงน้ำลงทั้งนี้เพื่อให้ปะการังเกิดขึ้นอย่างสมบูรณ์เต็มที่ ส่วนในระยะยาวทางอุทยาสิรินาถได้ของบประมาณไปยังกรมอุทยานแห่งชาติสัตว์ป่าและพันพืชเพื่อขอสนับสนุนเพิ่มกำลังพลในการใช้ลาดตระเวนในพื้นที่รับผิดชอบทั้งทางบกและทางน้ำซึ่งกำลังพลกลุ่มนี้จะได้ดูแลบริเวณพื้นที่ของปะการังงอกใหม่เป็นพิเศษ พร้อมทั้งขอให้ทางกรมอุทยานฯส่งผู้เชี่ยวชาญเข้ามาสำรวจกำหนดจุดและรูปแบบการวางทุ่นจอดเรือซึ่งเป็นทุ่นขนาดใหญ่เพื่ออนุรักษ์แนวปะการังอย่างถาวรโดยในอนาคตเมื่อปะการังเหล่านี้แข็งแรงเติบโตเต็มที่ก็จะใช้เป็นจุดดำน้ำชมปะการังเพื่อถ่ายเทนักท่องเที่ยวที่แอดัดมาจากจุดอื่นๆทั้งในพื้นที่ภูเก็ตและใกล้เคียง อย่างไรก็ตามก่อนหน้านี้ทางอุทยานสิรินาถได้มีการทำป้ายห้ามเข้า ยืน เดินบนแนวปะการังแล้ว พร้อมจัดชุดสายตรวจอุทยานฯ และขอความร่วมมือชุด life guard ชายหาด ตรวจตราห้ามปรามผู้ฝ่าฝืนอย่างต่อเนื่องเพราะพบว่าเวลาประมาณ 15.00-18.30 น. เป็นช่วงที่น้ำลงจนเห็นแนวปะการังงอกใหม่นักท่องเที่ยวมักลงไปเดินบริเวณนั้นจึงต้องมีการดูแลอย่างต่อเนื่องจนวันนี้ได้มีการวางทุ่นกันแนวเขตซึ่งเป็นทุ่นขนาดเล็กไปก่อน.
