ภาคเอกชนจังหวัดภูเก็ตสืบสานประเพณีไทย ประกวดกระทง มีนักเรียนและประชาชนเข้าร่วม

เมื่อวันที่ 14 พฤศจิกายน  2559  ที่บริเวณลานโปรโมชั่น ห้างภูเก็ตโกรเซอรี่ ทางห้างภูเก็ตโกรเซอรี่ ได้จัดกิจกรรมประกวดกระทงขึ้น เพื่อเป็นการสืบสานประเพณีไทยและน้อมรำลึกถึงพระมหากรุณาธิคุณ รวมถึงถวายอาลัยแด่พระบาทสมเด็จพระปรมินทรมหาภูมิพลดุลยเดช โดยกำหนดแนวคิดการประกวดคือ “แสงเทียนสุดอาลัย ภูวนัยพ่อหลวงภูมิภาค”

กติกาของการประกวดต้องมีเส้นผ่าศูนย์กลางไม่เกิน 50 ซม. (วัดจากปลายกระทงด้านหนึ่งถึงปลายกลีบกระทงอีกด้านหนึ่ง) รวมถึงต้องประดิษฐ์จากใบตองหรือวัสดุจากธรรมชาติที่ไม่ทำลายระบบนิเวศน์ฯทางน้ำ (ไม่อนุญาตให้ใช้โฟมเป็นวัสดุโดยเด็ดขาด) และเมื่อจัดทำกระทงเสร็จเรียบร้อยจะต้องสามารถนำมาลอยน้ำได้

ทั้งนี้ นักเรียน/นักศึกษาจากโรงเรียนต่าง ๆ ได้ส่งทีมเข้าประกวดจำนวน 8 ทีม และมีประชาชนทั่วไปร่วมการแข่งขันการจัดการประกวดกระทงในครั้งนี้ด้วย
