เมื่อวันที่ 19 พฤศจิกายน  2558  เวลา 10.00 น. ที่ห้องจามจุรี 1 โรงแรมภูเก็ตเมอร์ลิน อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดภูเก็ต นายโชคดี อมรวัฒน์ รองผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดภูเก็ต เป็นประธานในพิธีเปิดโครงการจัดประชุมนายจ้าง/ สถานประกอบการ ผู้นำชุมชน หน่วยงานราชการที่เกี่ยวข้อง ประจำปีงบประมาณ 2558 โดยมีนายภูธราช มณีรัตน์ รักษาราชการแทนจัดหางานจังหวัดภูเก็ตพร้อมด้วยส่วนราชการ ผู้ประกอบการแรงงานและผู้ที่เกี่ยวข้องเข้าร่วม

นายโชคดี อมรวัฒน์ กล่าวว่า จังหวัดภูเก็ตเป็นจังหวัดที่มีจำนวนแรงงานต่างด้าวเป็นจำนวนมากซึ่งแรงงานต่างด้าวและผู้ติดตามที่ได้รับการจดทะเบียนตามที่ประกาศของคณะรักษาความสงบแห่งชาติ มีนายจ้างจำนวนกว่า 10,000 รายและมีแรงงานจำนวนทั้งสิ้น 7 หมื่นกว่าราย นับเป็นจำนวนมากพอสมควรและแรงงานต่างด้าวดั่งกล่าวจะต้องเข้ารับการตรวจสัญชาติและต้องขออนุญาตทำงานให้เป็นแรงงานต่างด้าวอย่างถูกต้องกฎหมาย เนื่องจากจังหวัดภูเก็ตมีความจำเป็น เป็นอย่างมากที่จะต้องใช้แรงงานต่างด้าว เพราะจำนวนแรงงานจังหวัดภูเก็ตมีไม่เพียงพอ โดยจังหวัดภูเก็ตจะต้องจัดระเบียบแรงงานต่างด้าวโดยให้หน่วยงานต่างๆให้ความสำคัญและสร้างความโปร่งใส่ พร้อมทั้งให้บริการ การดูแลเป็นอย่างดี ทางจังหวัดเห็นความสำคัญของแรงงานเป็นอย่างมาก พยายามดำเนินการให้แรงงานทุกคนเข้าระบบตามกฎหมาย ให้ทุกคนได้มีประกันสังคมหลีกเลี่ยงปัญหาการค้ามนุษย์ลดระดับความรุนแรง

ขณะที่นายภูธราช มณีรัตน์ กล่าวว่า ทางสำนักงานจัดหางานจังหวัดภูเก็ตได้จัดประชุมนายจ้าง/ สถานประกอบการ ผู้นำชุมชน หน่วยงานราชการที่เกี่ยวข้องประจำปีงบประมาณ 2558 เพื่อให้รับทราบเกี่ยวกับข้อมูลต่างๆในการเข้ารับการตรวจสัญชาติและข้อกฎหมายดังกล่าวที่เกี่ยวข้องให้แก่แรงงานต่างด้าวชาวเมียนมาร์ ลาว กัมพูชา ส่วนแรงงานต่างด้าวและผู้ติดตามที่ได้รับการจดทะเบียนตามที่ประกาศของคณะรักษาความสงบแห่งชาติ มีนายจ้างจำนวนทั้งสิ้น 10,196 รายมีแรงงานต่างด้าวได้รับอนุญาตทำงานทั้งสิ้น 75,873 ราย เป็นสัญชาติเมียนมาร์ 74,321 ราย สัญชาติลาว 842 ราย กัมพูชา 710 รายแรงงานเหล่านี้ได้รับการจดทะเบียนแรงงานต่างด้าวแบบเบ็ดเสร็จ (OSS) จำนวน 22,520 รายแรงงานผ่านการพิสูจน์สัญชาติ33,392 รายและแรงงานนำเข้าจำนวน 19,961 รายโดยได้รับอนุญาตให้ทำงานในพื้นที่จังหวัดภูเก็ตเรียบร้อยแล้วทั้งสิ้น
