เมื่อวันที่ 3 มิถุนายน  2558  เวลา 10.00 น. ที่ห้องประชุมองค์การบริหารส่วนตำบลเชิงทะเล อ.ถลาง จ.ภูเก็ต นายมาแอน สำราญ นายกองค์การบริหารส่วนตำบลเชิงทะเล เป็นประธานในการแถลงข่าวการจัดงานวันเกษตรกร อบต.เชิงทะเล ประจำปี 2558 ระหว่างวันที่ 11-13 มิ.ย.2588 นี้ ณ บริเวณหลังศูนย์การค้าโลตัส ต.เชิงทะเล อ.ถลาง จ.ภูเก็ต โดยมี นายสมพงศ์ แป้นทอง เกษตรและสหกรณ์จังหวัดภูเก็ต นายชาลี สิตบุศย์ นักวิชาการเกษตรชำนาญการพิเศษ สำนักงานเกษตรจังหวัดภูเก็ต นายสมหมาย สกุลชิด ประธานสภาเกษตรกรจังหวัดภูเก็ต นายภัทรกร เชื้อชมพูภากร ปศุสัตว์จังหวัดภูเก็ต ตลอดจนเกษตรกรและสื่อมวลชน เข้าร่วม

นายมาแอน สำราญ  กล่าวถึงการจัดงานวันเกษตรกร อบต.เชิงทะเล ประจำปี 2558 ว่า ด้วยประชาชนในพื้นที่ตำบลเชิงทะเล ประกอบอาชีพด้านการเกษตรเป็นจำนวนมาก ทั้ง เกษตรด้านพืชและผลไม้ เช่น สวนลองกอง สวนทุเรียน สวนมังคุด เป็นต้น นอกจากนี้ยังมีการทำสวนยางพารา และเกษตรกรกลุ่มเลี้ยงสัตว์ เช่น ควาย แพะ เป็ดเทศ เป็นต้น โดยในพื้นที่ตำบลเชิงทะเลยังมีประชากรที่ไม่เข้าสู่การประกอบธุรกิจท่องเที่ยวเป็นจำนวนมาก และยังคงยึดมั่นในการทำการเกษตร โดยผลผลิตทางการเกษตรก็สามารถจำหน่ายทั้งภายในและนอกพื้นที่สามารถสร้างรายได้แก่ประชาชนได้

ดังนั้น เพื่อส่งเสริมอาชีพเกษตรกรในเขตพื้นที่ของ อบต.เชิงทะเลและพื้นที่อื่น ๆ ภายใต้วิสัยทัศน์ ปรัชญาเศรษฐกิจพอเพียงและลดภาระค่าใช้จ่ายต่าง ๆ ในการประกอบอาชีพเกษตรกรรม ทาง อบต.เชิงทะเลจึงเล็งเห็นความสำคัญของเรื่องดังกล่าว จึงได้จัดงานวันเกษตรกรขึ้น โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อให้เกษตรกรได้พบปะแลกเปลี่ยน ประสบการณ์ซึ่งกันและกัน การให้คำแนะนำในการแก้ไขปัญหาในการประกอบอาชีพเกษตร ตลอดจนให้คำปรึกษาด้านวิชาการ มีความคิดริเริ่มในการที่จะพัฒนาอาชีพของตนเอง โดยเฉพาะเกษตรกรให้มีรายได้เพิ่มขึ้น ปรับปรุงคุณภาพของผลผลิต รวมทั้งเพื่อส่งเสริมการท่องเที่ยวเชิงเกษตรอีกด้วย

สำหรับงานวันเกษตรกร อบต.เชิงทะเล ในครั้งนี้ กำหนดจัดขึ้นเป็นเวลา 3 วัน ระหว่างวันที่ 11-13 มิ.ย.2588 นี้ โดยมี กิจกรรมต่าง ๆ ประกอบด้วย การประกวดผลผลิตทางการเกษตร การประกวดแพะ การประกวดกระบือ การประกวดอาหารพื้นเมือง การจัดนิทรรศการเชิงวิชาการที่เกี่ยวกับเกษตร รวมถึงการออกร้านค้า และมีกิจกรรมอื่น ๆ อีกมากมาย นอกจากนี้ยังมีขบวนแห่ผลิตผลทางการเกษตร จากกลุ่มเกษตรกร และโรงแรมต่าง ๆ ในพื้นที่เข้าร่วมงานฯ ด้วย
