เมื่อวันที่ 30 เมษายน 2558 เวลา 20.00 น. เทศบาลนครภูเก็ต โดยนายกวี ตัณสุคตานนท์ รองนายกเทศมนตรีนครภูเก็ต ได้กล่าวแสดงความยินดี  ในงาน โครงการ “Phuket UNESCO International Jazz Day” พร้อมด้วย นายธวัชชัย ทองมั่ง ปลัดเทศบาล และนางประนอม ตัณสกุล หัวหน้าสำนักปลัดเทศบาลนครภูเก็ต  ณ บริเวณพื้นที่ ถนนชนะเจริญ ตำบลตลาดใหญ่

นายกวี ตัณสุคตานนท์ กล่าวว่า  สืบเนื่องจากองค์กร UNESCO ได้ประกาศให้วันที่30 เมษายนของทุกปี เป็นวัน “International Jazz Day” จึงก่อให้เกิดการจุดประกายการจัดกิจกรรม “Phuket Unesco International Jazz Day” ในจังหวัดภูเก็ตขึ้น โดยการรวมตัวของภาคเอกชนและประชาชนในพื้นที่นครภูเก็ต อย่างเข้มแข็ง ถือเป็นความสำเร็จ ของการดำเนินงานบนพื้นฐานการมีส่วนร่วมได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ สร้างความประทับใจ ให้แก่นักท่องเที่ยวและผู้สนใจทั่วไป จนสามารถเพิ่มจำนวนผู้เข้าร่วมกิจกรรมได้มากขึ้นทุกๆปี และยังคงความเป็นปึกแผ่นอย่างต่อเนื่องจนถึงปัจจุบัน เป็นปีที่ 4

นายกวี กล่าวเพิ่มเติมว่า ทราบว่า การจัดงานครั้งแรก เป็นการรวมตัวกัน เพื่อร่วมน้อมรำลึกในพระปรีชาสามารถของพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวภูมิพลอดุลยเดช องค์อัครศิลปินที่ยิ่งใหญ่ของโลก ในการทรงดนตรี Jazz ซึ่งเริ่มพระราชนิพนธ์เพลงตั้งแต่พระชนมายุได้เพียง 18 พรรษา เมื่อพุทธศักราช 2498และจนถึงปัจจุบัน ได้พระราชนิพนธ์ไว้ถึง 48 เพลง รวมทั้งเป็นการร่วมสังสรรค์วัน “International Jazz Day” และในครั้งนี้ ถือเป็นนิมิตรหมายที่ดีและถือเป็นเกียรติอย่างยิ่งสำหรับเทศบาลนครภูเก็ตที่ได้มีโอกาสเข้าร่วมเครือข่ายจัดงาน “Phuket International Jazz Day” ทั้งนี้ เพื่อร่วมสืบสานวัฒนธรรมทางดนตรีพร้อมกระชับความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างศิลปิน นักดนตรีในระดับภูมิภาคเอเชีย ตลอดจนเป็นการสร้างภาพลักษณ์ที่ดีต่อการส่งเสริมการท่องเที่ยวของจังหวัดภูเก็ต
