เมื่อวันที่ 15 ธันวาคม 2559 ที่ อ่าวปอ แกรนด์มารีน่า ภูเก็ตเทศบาลนครภูเก็ตและ Blue Elephant เปิดบูท PHuket old Tonw เผยแพร่อาหารไทย ในงานมหกรรมเรือสำราญและมารีน่าครั้งยิ่งใหญ่แห่งภูมิภาค “งานไทยแลนด์ ยอชท์ โชว์ ครั้งที่ 2”

นางสาวสมใจ สุวรรณศุภพนา กล่าวว่า PHuket old Tonw เป็นบูทที่แสดงถึงความเป็นสังคมวัฒนธรรมของคนภูเก็ต มีความหลากหลายของเชื้อชาติ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นคนไทย จีน ซิก หรือพี่น้องมุสลิม อยู่รวมกันอย่างฉันท์พี่น้อง ในเรื่องลักษณะของอาหารก็เหมือนของการบูรณาการ แต่ถามว่ารากของอาหารของภูเก็ตเป็นส่วนหนึ่งแต่ก็ได้รับอิทธิพลจากคนปีนัง ในวันนี้มีอาหารมานำเสนอเรียกว่า “อิ่วปึ่ง” ทำมาจากข้าวเหนียวจะเหมือนข้าวเหนียวมูลจะต้องนำไปผัด ประกอบด้วย กุ้งแห้ง หมูแดง ไก่ เป็นประเพณีท้องถิ่นของคนภูเก็ต เชื่อว่าเมื่อคลอดลูกออกมาครบ 1 เดือน ก็จะต้องนำเอาขนม อิ่วปึ่ง ไปไหว้ที่ศาลเจ้าปุดจ้อ ซึ่งเป็นศาลเจ้าที่มีอายุมากกว่า 100 ปี ซึ่งมีความเชื่อ ความศรัทธาในองค์เจ้าแม่กวนอิม และที่ขาดไม่ได้ก็คือไข่ไก่ย้อมสีแดง เพราะสีแดงเป็นสีแห่งความเป็นมงคลสำหรับคนจีนและหมายถึงลูกหลาน ยังมีขนมอีกอย่างคือ ขนมเต่า หรือ “อั่งกู้”  ก็จะเป็นสีแดงเหมือนกัน “กู้” หมายถึง เต่า  “อั่ง” หมายถึง สีแดง หรือ เต่าแดง หมายถึง ความเป็นมงคล ความโชคดี การมีอายุยืน ทำให้เกิดสิริมงคลกับลูกหลานที่เป็นสมาชิกใหม่ของครอบครัว

กิจกรรมในครั้งนี้ เทศบาลนครภูเก็ตต้องการเผยแพร่เรื่องอาหารต่อนักท่องเที่ยวที่มาภูเก็ต ยูเนสโก ประกาศให้ภูเก็ตเป็นเมืองแรกของไทย และเมืองแรกของอาเซียน เป็นหนึ่งใน 18 เมืองทั่วโลก ที่เป็นเมืองสร้างสรรค์ด้านวิทยาการอาหาร จากที่อาหารภูเก็ตมีอัตลักษณ์ สูตรลับเฉพาะที่ถ่ายทอดผ่านคนในครอบครัว ไม่สามารถหารับประทานที่อื่นได้ มั่นใจภูเก็ตจะเป็นเมืองที่ทุกคนมาแล้วต้องชิมอาหารภูเก็ต

ในครั้งนี้ Blue ElePhant ก็เป็นสถาบันของอาหาร และสอนการทำอาหาร เป็นที่น่าชื่นชมความเป็นตัวตนในเรื่องการเผยแพร่อาหารไทย และอาหารนานาชาติ จะอยู่ในโซนของอาหาร ร่วมกันทำสิ่งที่ดีงามให้กับนักท่องเที่ยวชาวต่างชาติได้ชื่นชม ช่วยกันเผยแพร่อาหารให้ลิ้มลองกันอีกมากมาย ธรรมชาติที่สวยงาม ภูเขา หาดทราย ท้องทะเล เรือ นอกเหนือจากธรรมชาติที่สวยงามของเกาะภูเก็ตแล้วยังมีวัฒนธรรมการแต่งกาย ประเพณีที่มีการสืบสาน
