ซิป้า และ จังหวัดภูเก็ต ร่วมเปิดตัวโครงการส่งเสริมพื้นที่พิเศษสำหรับเศรษฐกิจดิจิทัล โดยการเปิดศูนย์ Phuket Smart City Innovation Park เพื่อรองรับนักลงทุน ในกลุ่มประเทศประชาคมเศรษฐกิจอาเซียน
เมื่อวันที่ 8 กันยายน 2559 ที่ศูนย์ Phuket Smart City Innovation Park อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดภูเก็ต นางจีราวรรณ บุญเพิ่ม ประธานกรรมการบริหารสำนักงานส่งเสริมอุตสาหกรรมซอฟต์แวร์แห่งชาติ หรือ ซิป้า เป็นประธานในพิธีเปิดที่ศูนย์ Phuket Smart City Innovation Park จังหวัดภูเก็ต ซึ่งสำนักงานส่งเสริม อุตสาหกรรมซอฟต์แวร์แห่งชาติ (องค์การมหาชน) กระทรวงเทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศและการสื่อสาร หรือ ไอซีที ร่วมกับจังหวัดภูเก็ต และมหาวิทยาลัยสงขลานครินทร์ จัดตั้งขึ้น โดยมีนายจำเริญ ทิพญพงศ์ธาดา ผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดภูเก็ต พร้อมด้วยหัวหน้าส่วนราชการ ผู้แทนจากหน่วยงานภาครัฐ ภาคเอกชน ตลอดจนผู้ประกอบการดิจิทัล จำนวนมากเข้าร่วมงาน
โอกาสนี้ นายจำเริญ ทิพญพงศ์ธาดา ปาฐกถาพิเศษถึงเป้าหมายของการพัฒนา Phuket Smart City โดยมีเจตนารมณ์และเป้าหมายการดำเนินงาน บริษัท ภูเก็ตพัฒนาเมือง จำกัด ภายใต้วิทัศน์ “ภูเก็ตเมืองเขียว ด้วยนวัตกรรม ระบบโครงสร้างพื้นฐานเขียวและระบบคมนาคมขนส่งสีเขียว
นางจีราวรรณ บุญเพิ่ม ประธานกรรมการบริหารสำนักงานส่งเสริมอุตสาหกรรมซอฟต์แวร์แห่งชาติ กล่าวถึงการจัดตั้งศูนย์ดังกล่าวว่า สำนักงานส่งเสริมอุตสาหกรรมซอฟต์แวร์แห่งชาติ (องค์การมหาชน) หรือ ซิป้า เล็งเห็นความสำคัญของศูนย์ Phuket Smart City Innovation Park ภายใต้โครงการ Phuket Smart City โดยศูนย์แห่งนี้จะเป็นจุดเริ่มต้น ในการพัฒนา Phuket Smart City โดยเป็นการขับเคลื่อนทั้งมิติความรู้ ความเข้าใจ การถ่ายทอดเทคโนโลยีดิจิทัล การให้คำปรึกษา ความช่วยเหลือ ทางธุรกิจกับ ประชาชน ผู้ประกอบการ SMEs นักลงทุน และ ผู้ประกอบการดิจิทัล และเป็นการสร้างสังคมในการพัฒนาภูเก็ตให้เป็น Smart City ภายใต้วิสัยทัศน์ Smile Smart and Sustainable Phuket
สำหรับการพัฒนาจังหวัดภูเก็ตให้เป็น Smart City ภายใต้นโยบายรัฐบาล เป็นการนำประเทศเดินหน้าสู่สังคมเศรษฐกิจดิจิทัล และ Thailand 4.0 นั้น จะเป็นการนำดิจิทัล เทคโนโลยีมาช่วยสนับสนุนการพัฒนาคุณภาพชีวิตของคนภูเก็ตและนักท่องเที่ยว และ การบริการด้านต่าง ๆ ในจังหวัดภูเก็ต เพื่อทำให้ภูเก็ตเป็นจังหวัดที่มีการเติบโต ในมิติด้าน การท่องเที่ยวที่สูงขึ้น และมีการใช้ดิจิทัล เทคโนโลยี ในการบริหารจัดการและ พัฒนาเมือง ซึ่งมุ่งสู่การพัฒนาภูเก็ตให้เป็น Smart City อย่างเต็มรูปแบบ ทั้งในด้านมิติทางเศรษฐกิจ ความเป็นอยู่และสังคม โดยอาศัยการขับเคลื่อนในด้าน Smart Economy การส่งเสริม ผู้ประกอบการ Startup การให้ความรู้แก่ SMEs และการบริการด้านการลงทุนแก่นักลงทุน
