เมื่อวันที่ 8 พฤษภาคม 2559 พลโท วิวรรธน์ ปฐมภาคย์ แม่ทัพภาค 4 พร้อมคณะ เดินทางลงพื้นที่หาดป่าตอง ต.ป่าตอง หาดกมลา ต.กมลา อ.กะทู้ หาดสุรินทร์ และหาดเลพัง ต.เชิงทะเล อ.ถลาง เพื่อติดตามความคืบหน้าการจัดระเบียบชายหาด ตามนโยบายคณะรักษาความสงบแห่งชาติหรือ คสช. และรับทราบความเดือดร้อนของประชาชน โดยมีนายโชคดี อมรวัฒน์ รองผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดภูเก็ต พล.ต.ต.ธีระพล ทิพย์เจริญ ผู้บังคับการตำรวจภูธรจังหวัดภูเก็ต ผู้นำองค์กรปกครองส่วนท้องถิ่น และเจ้าหน้าที่ที่เกี่ยวข้อง ร่วมนำตรวจพื้นที่และให้ข้อมูลในส่วนของการจัดระเบียบและการช่วยเหลือเยียวยาผู้ได้รับผลกระทบจากการจัดระเบียบดังกล่าว ทั้งนี้ขณะที่คณะของแม่ทัพภาค 4 เดินทางลงพื้นที่หาดสุรินทร์ พบว่ามีกลุ่มชาวบ้านจำนวนหนึ่งที่ได้รับผลกระทบจากการรื้อถอนอาคารร้านค้าได้เข้ายื่นหนังสือกับแม่ทัพภาค 4 เพื่อให้พิจารณาช่วยเหลือเยียวยาเรื่องที่ทำกินให้กับผู้ที่ได้รับผลกระทบ
