โยธาธิการและผังเมืองจังหวัดภูเก็ตแจงระบบป้องกันน้ำท่วมพื้นที่จังหวัดภูเก็ต เพื่อลดความเดือดร้อนของพี่น้องประชาชน และนักท่องเที่ยว

นายวงศกร นุ่นชูคันธ์ โยธาธิการและผังเมืองจังหวัดภูเก็ต กล่าวในโครงการ ผวจ. พบสื่อมวลชนเมื่อวันที่ 2 กรกฎาคม  2558  ว่า จังหวัดภูเก็ตเป็นพื้นที่หนึ่งที่ประสบปัญหาน้ำท่วมรุนแรง และมีมูลค่าความเสียหายสูง จากเหตุการณ์อุทกภัย ปี พ.ศ.2555 ก่อให้เกิดความเดือดร้อนแก่ ประชาชน นักท่องเที่ยว และภาคธุรกิจต่าง ๆ อีกทั้งส่งผลเสียหายทางด้านเศรษฐกิจ สังคม และส่งผลกระทบต่อภาพพจน์ของแหล่งท่องเที่ยวทางทะเล ดังนั้นการป้องกันและบรรเทาปัญหาทางอุทกภัยที่เกิดขึ้นจึงมีความจำเป็น ต่อการลดความเสี่ยงและผลกระทบที่จะเกิดขึ้น

การดำเนินการของกรมโยธิการและผังเมือง โดยปีงบประมาณ 2556 ได้จัดทำโครงการการจัดทำมาตรการด้านผังเมือง เพื่อป้องกัน และบรรเทาปัญหาอุทกภัยจังหวัดภูเก็ต โดยใช้มาตรการทางด้านผังเมือง ทั้งมาตรการใช้สิ่งก่อสร้างและไม่ใช่สิ่งก่อสร้าง ปีงบประมาณ 2557-2559 ทำการศึกษาออกแบบระบบโครงสร้างพื้นฐานพื้นที่ชุมชนหลัก จังหวัดภูเก็ต เพื่อแก้ไขปัญหาน้ำท่วมในเขตพื้นที่ชุมชนที่จำเป็น จำนวน  4  พื้นที่ ได้แก่ เทศบาลนครภูเก็ตและชุมชนต่อเนื่อง เทศบาลเมืองป่าตองและชุมชนต่อเนื่อง เทศบาลเมืองกะทู้และชุมชนต่อเนื่อง และเทศบาลตำบลฉลองและชุมชนต่อเนื่อง ในวงเงิน 28,174,200 บาท และ ปีงบประมาณ 2559-2561 ตั้งงบประมาณก่อสร้างระบบป้องกันน้ำท่วม จำนวน 2 แห่ง คือ ก่อสร้างระบบป้องกันน้ำท่วมพื้นที่ชุมชนป่าตอง อ.กะทู้ วงเงินงบประมาณ 420 ล้านบาท และก่อสร้างระบบป้องกันน้ำท่วมพื้นที่ชุมชนเมืองภูเก็ต อ.เมืองภูเก็ต วงเงินงบประมาณ 550 ล้านบาท ทั้งนี้ เพื่อเพิ่มประสิทธิลำลาง และลดผลกระทบทางด้านเศรษฐกิจ สังคม ต่อการท่องเที่ยว รวมถึงเพื่อลดความเดือดร้อนของประชาชน นักท่องเที่ยวในจังหวัดภูเก็ต
