เมื่อวันที่ 9 ธันวาคม 2558 ณ ชายหาดเกาะเฮ บ้านเกาะโหลน หมู่ที่ 3 ตำบลราไวย์ อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดภูเก็ต พลเรือตรีมนตรี จึงมั่นคง เสนาธิการทัพเรือภาคที่3 เป็นประธาน การปล่อยพันธุ์เต่าทะเล ตามโครงการอนุรักษ์พันธุ์เต่าทะเลเฉลิมพระเกียรติ และมอบเกียรติบัตร พร้อมด้วย นายประเจียด อักษรธรรมกุล รองผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดภูเก็ต พลตรีธีร์ณฉัฏฐ์ จินดาเงิน ผู้บัญชาการมณฑลทหารบกที่ 41 นายพิสิษฐ์ ปภากิจยศพัฒน์ รองนายกเทศมนตรีตำบลราไวย์ นางวิรินทร์ ปภากิจยศพัฒน์ กรรมการใหญ่บริษัทนิกรมารีน นางเบญจมาศ ศิริเมก ประธานแม่บ้านทหารผ่านศึกจังหวัดภูเก็ต หัวหน้าส่วนราชการ และแขกผู้มีเกียรติ โดยการปล่อยพันธุ์เต่าทะเล จำนวน 89 ตัว ได้รับการสนับสนุนจากฐานทัพเรือพังงา ทัพเรือภาคที่3
นางเบญจมาศ ศิริเมก กล่าวว่า ทรัพยากรธรรมชาติทางทะเลไทยนับวันมีแต่จะน้อยลง มีสัตว์หลายชนิดที่ใกล้สูญพันธุ์ โดยเฉพาะเต่าทะเล เช่น เต่ามะเฟือง เต่าตนุ เต่ากระ เต่าตาแดง ซึ่งในอดีตมีเต่าเป็นจำนวนมาก บัดนี้ลดจำนวนลงอย่างรวดเร็ว ปัจจุบันประเทศไทยมีโครงการอนุรักษ์พันธุ์เต่าทะเลหลายโครงการ ที่ดำเนินการด้วยความตั้งใจดี แต่ปริมาณของเต่าทะเลได้ลดน้อยลงจนถึงจุดวิกฤต มีแนวโน้มว่าจะสูญพันธุ์ไปจากประเทศไทย เนื่องจากชายหาดที่เต่าขึ้นมาวางไข่ถูกรบกวนจากกิจกรรมของมนุษย์ ทางแม่บ้านทหารผ่านศึกจังหวัดภูเก็ตจึงเล็งเห็นถึงความสำคัญที่ต้องช่วยกันดูแลรักษาแหล่งที่อยู่อาศัยของเต่าทะเล ไม่เพียงแต่บริเวณหาดทรายที่เต่าทะเลตัวเมียขึ้นมาวางไข่เท่านั้น ควรจะได้รับการพิทักษ์ปกป้อง และจะต้องดูแล รักษาระบบนิเวศทั้งระบบ แม่บ้านทหารผ่านศึกจังหวัดภูเก็ต ร่วมกับสำนักงานสงเคราะห์ทหารผ่านศึกเขตกระบี่พร้อมสมาชิกทั้ง 4 จังหวัด ได้แก่ ภูเก็ต พังงา กระบี่ และตรัง พร้อมด้วยบริษัท นิกรมารีน จำกัด ได้ร่วมมือร่วมใจสร้างจิตสำนึก อันที่จะช่วยกันทำความดีและคุณประโยชน์ให้แก่ส่วนรวม ด้วยการอนุรักษ์พันเต่าทะเลและสิ่งแวดล้อม
