เมื่อวันที่ 17 สิงหาคม 2559 ที่ห้องประชุมศาลากลางจังหวัดภูเก็ต นายจำเริญ ทิพญพงศ์ธาดา ผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดภูเก็ต เป็นประธานการประชุมหารือแนวปฏิบัติเพื่อให้การประมูลจ้างเอกชนดำเนินการปรับปรุงประสิทธิภาพโรงเตาเผาขยะมูลฝอย 250 ตันต่อวัน ดำเนินการต่อไปอย่างถูกต้อง โดยมีนายสาธิต กลิ่นภักดี ท้องถิ่นจังหวัดภูเก็ต นายถาวร จิรพัฒนโสภณ รองนายกเทศมนตรีนครภูเก็ต ผู้แทนสำนักงานทรัพยากรธรรมชาติและสิ่งแวดล้อมจังหวัดภูเก็ต ผู้แทน สผ. และหน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้องเข้าร่วม

จังหวัดภูเก็ตได้รับการประสานจากเทศบาลนครภูเก็ตขอหารือ กรณีเทศบาลนครภูเก็ตได้รับการอุดหนุนงบประมาณ ภายใต้โครงการถ่ายโอนการสนับสนุนแผนปฏิบัติการ เพื่อการจัดการคุณภาพสิ่งแวดล้อมในระดับจังหวัด ประจำปีงบประมาณ 2559 โดยสำนักงานนโยบายและแผนทรัพยากรธรรมชาติและสิ่งแวดล้อม ในฐานะหน่วยตั้งงบประมาณ มีกรอบวงเงินทั้งโครงการ จำนวน 530 ล้านบาท แต่ยังติดปัญหาในเรื่องของการประมูล จึงได้มีการหารือดังกล่าว

นายจำเริญ ทิพญพงศ์ธาดา กล่าวว่า ให้หน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้องได้เร่งดำเนินการในด้านการเร่งรัดในเรื่องของทีโออาร์ที่ยังติดปัญหาพร้อมสั่งการให้หน่วยงานที่ดำเนินการในเรื่องนี้ไปเร่งดำเนินการโดยด่วนเพื่อเตรียมความพร้อมในการรองรับปัญหาขยะมูลฝอยของจังหวัดภูเก็ตที่มีแนวโน้มเพิ่มจำนวนมากขึ้นในทุกๆปี
