เมื่อเวลา 13.30 น. วันที่ 21 เมษายน 2558 ที่ห้องประชุมสึนามิ จังหวัดภูเก็ต นายภาคภูมิ อินทรสุวรรณ ปลัดจังหวัดภูเก็ต เป็นประธานการประชุมคณะทำงานขับเคลื่อนการเตรียมความพร้อมของฝ่ายปกครองสู่ประชาคมอาเซียน ครั้งที่ 1/2558โดยมีนายอรุณ สิงห์อินทร์ ป้องกันจังหวัดภูเก็ต นายไพฑูรย์ ศิลปวิสุทธ์ กรรมการหอการค้าภูเก็ต และหน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้อง เข้าร่วม
สำหรับวาระการประชุมที่สำคัญได้แก่ การขับเคลื่อนการเตรียมความพร้อมของฝ่ายปกครองสู่ประชาคมอาเซียนจังหวัดภูเก็ต โดยกรมการปกครองจัดทำแผนแม่บท และเค้าโครงแผนแม่บทในการเตรียมความพร้อมของฝ่ายปกครองสู่ประชาคม งบประมาณพ.ศ. 2557- 2559 อีกทั้ง ยังมีการกำหนดกรอบกิจกรรมแผนงานโครงการของจังหวัดในหน้าที่ของฝ่ายปกครอง อาทิการประชุมคณะกรรมการในการทำงานขับเคลื่อนเพื่อเตรียมความพร้อมของฝ่ายปกครองสู่ประชาคมอาเซียน การปรับปรุงสถานที่สำหรับการจัดตั้งศูนย์บริการข้อมูลและการประสานงานสู่ประชาคมอาเซียน ที่ทำการปกครองจังหวัดภูเก็ต การจัดทำเว็บไซต์บริการข้อมูลและการประสานงานสู่ประชาคมอาเซียนฯ โครงการพัฒนาศักยภาพบุคลากร ฝ่ายปกครองในการเตรียมความพร้อมเข้าสู่อาเซียน และโครงการจัดตั้ง ASEAN TEAM จังหวัดภูเก็ต ทั้งนี้ การวางแผนแม่บท กรมการปกครองต่อประชาคมอาเซียน มีประเด็นยุทธศาสตร์ที่สำคัญคือการวางระบบเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพองค์กร การพัฒนาระบบความเชื่อมโยงด้านฐานข้อมูลต่อประชาคมอาเซียน การเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพการจัดการพื้นที่ชายแดน การรักษาความมั่นคงและความสงบเรียบร้อย และการสร้างความตระหนักรู้
