จังหวัดภูเก็ตร่วมกับภาคเอกชนจัด แข่งขันวิ่งมาราธอนนานาชาติ ลากูน่าภูเก็ต เสริมกิจกรรมกีฬาเพื่อการท่องเที่ยวของจังหวัด
เมื่อวันที่ 28 เมษายน  2559  ที่ห้องประชุมศูนย์ป้องกันและบรรเทาสาธารณภัยเขต 18 ภูเก็ต อ.เมือง จ.ภูเก็ต ดร.ประเจียด อักษรธรรมกุล รองผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดภูเก็ต เป็นประธานการประชุมการแข่งขันวิ่งมาราธอนนานาชาติ ลากูน่าภูเก็ต ครั้งที่ 11 ประจำปี 2559 โดยมีนายวิรัช พาที ผู้อำนวยศูนย์การกีฬาแห่งประเทศไทย จังหวัดภูเก็ต นางประภา เหมมินทร์ ผู้อำนวยการฝ่ายขายไมซ์และกิจกรรมองค์กร บริษัทลากูน่ารีสอร์ทแอนด์โฮเท็ล จำกัด (มหาชน) และหน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้องเข้าร่วม

ประธานที่ประชุมกล่าวว่า จังหวัดภูเก็ตร่วมกับบริษัทลากูน่ารีสอร์ทแอนด์โฮเท็ล จำกัด (มหาชน) กำหนดจัดการแข่งขัน “วิ่งมาราธอนนานาชาติ ลากูน่าภูเก็ต” ครั้งที่ 11 ประจำปี 2559 ณ บริเวณโรงแรมกลุ่มลากุน่า ภูเก็ต ต. เชิงทะเล อ. ถลาง จ. ภูเก็ต เพื่อประชาสัมพันธ์และส่งเสริมกิจกรรมกีฬาเพื่อการท่องเที่ยว ตลอดจนเพื่อเป็นการสร้างภาพลักษณ์ที่ดีด้านการท่องเที่ยวและกีฬาของจังหวัดภูเก็ต จังหวัดภูเก็ตจึงได้มีคำสั่งแต่งตั้งคณะกรรมการจัดการแข่งขันวิ่งมาราธอนนานาชาติ ลากูน่าภูเก็ตขึ้น และได้มีการประชุมมอบหมายภารกิจและหน้าที่ปฏิบัติแก่คณะกรรมการแต่ละฝ่ายในหน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้องในวันนี้ เพื่อให้การดำเนินการจัดการแข่งขัน “วิ่งมาราธอนนาชาติลากูน่าภูเก็ต” ครั้งที่ 11 ประจำปี 2559 เป็นไปด้วยความเรียบร้อย

การแข่งขันวิ่งมาราธอนนานาชาติลากูน่า ภูเก็ต ครั้งที่ 11 ประจำปี 2559 แบ่งประเภทการแข่งขันเป็นวิ่งยุวชน 2 กม., วิ่ง 10.5 กม. 5 กม. , เดิน 5 กม., มาราธอนและฮาล์ฟมาราธอน กำหนดจัดขึ้นในระหว่างวันที่ 4 – 5 มิถุนายน 2559 ณ บริเวณโรงแรมกลุ่มลากูน่าภูเก็ต โดยจะมีพิธีเปิดการแข่งขันในวันอาทิตย์ที่ 5 มิถุนายน 2559 เวลา 04.30 น. ณ ลานกิจกรรมลากูน่าโกรฟ
